Will you be saved?
That depends on what you do with what you have just read in the 'Discover how to be a Christian' section.
Let me ask you four questions:
- Do you agree with God that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself?
- Do you agree with God that Jesus came into this world to die on the cross for your sins and that he rose again from the dead?
- Do you want to turn from a life of trusting in your own good works to trusting in Jesus Christ alone to bring you back to God?
- Do you want to turn from everything that God says is wrong in your life and live the rest of your life in obedience to Christ?
If your answer is NO to any of these questions then you are not ready to be saved and need to understand more about the Christian message. (This can be done by contacting me, Colin Webster, at the church office.)
If your answer is YES to all of these questions then you are ready to be saved. If you genuinely want to trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour then turn to him now in prayer. You don’t have to worry about eloquent words because God looks at the heart.
Prayer
If you want a prayer to pray you might like to use the one below. Why not read it through first to see if it says the kind of things that you want to say to God? Then I suggest you kneel down and pray each sentence through, slowly and carefully, meaning every single word.
Dear Lord,
I know that I have failed to live a perfect life and have done things that I wish I hadn’t done. (You might like to confess [admit to] anything that God has brought to your mind.)
I want to turn from a life without you to one where you matter the most.
I believe that you loved me so much that you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross for me.
Lord Jesus, I thank you for taking the full punishment that my sins deserved so that I could be forgiven and go free and begin a new life with you.
Thank you that you rose again from the dead and that you promised that all those who put their trust in you will be saved.
Please forgive me for my past and create in me a new heart that will live to please and honour you.
I invite your Holy Spirit into my life to help me to live for you.
Thank you for hearing my prayer.
Amen
If you prayed that prayer and meant every word and have trusted in Jesus as Lord then you have begun a new life with Jesus.
More from the Bible
I want to show you some exciting things that the Bible tells you about the decision you have just made.
You now have eternal life!
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life
Death is not the end! Jesus said:
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies
You will go to heaven when you die! Jesus said:
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am
Your sins are forgiven!
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
You will not be condemned!
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
You are no longer an enemy of God!
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation - if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel
God is now your heavenly Father!
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are
God is on your side and nothing will separate you from his love!
If God is for us, who can be against us? … Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord
Isn’t that wonderful news? Isn’t God’s love and grace amazing?
