Katie Clay - I Thought That I Had Lived a 'Good' Life

Until I was seventeen I never really gave God a second thought. I believed that He existed but did not see that He really had any real relevance to my life. However, when my sister became a Christian at university I began to think about the meaning and purpose of life and the part that God played in that. I saw the change in my sister's life and attitudes and I had a real desire to believe in God and Jesus. However, I had too many questions that I did not understand to be able to believe completely.

After attending both church and a discussion group for a while, I came to understand that Jesus was the Son of God that He had lived a perfect life on earth and died so that I might be forgiven. For although I thought that I lived a 'good' life, I realised that I still did things wrong and could never live up to God's standard. I needed to be forgiven and saved by believing in Jesus Christ. Since then I have gradually got to know God better and I know that I have a living relationship with Jesus Christ my Saviour. In my three years of being a Christian I have been continually learning to have Jesus as Lord of my life and to live according to His will.

I am being baptised today in obedience to God's word and as an acknowledgement of all that Christ has done, not only for me but also for the whole of mankind. I would like to publicly thank God for His saving grace and continual faithfulness to me.
